GUYS I FEEL BETTER ABOUT MY BANGS.

Just so you know. I learned they need to be given more volume. The lovely people of Gaia Online's Real Life Fashion & Style forum showed me how to do it.
I'm apparently just a liiitle stupid, but now I feel like I can enjoy them much more. Just give 'em a little boost by "curling" them with my flat iron, and I like them a million times more. You can't really see the difference in the picture, but I can tell. I feel so much better about them now.
In other news, I finished Sam's birthday card.

His birthday's not until next Sunday... But I'm excited.

Playing with hair, contacts, all-around just bored.

Yeah. I've been pretty bored lately. Sam's been out of town and I'm kinda bummed. :/ Oh well. I've been playing around with my hair more!

I definitely like it better curly. I just got some hot rollers, so I don't have to spend quite as much time on my curls. I've got them in for a test run right now, crossing my fingers that it turns out good!
The other day, I was at my friend Alyssa's house, and she's big into the whole Himegyaru thing. Big contacts and wigs and stuff. So I played with her stuff.
Maybe I'll do this to my hair next....

Look at how big my eyes are!

I'm debating if I want to buy some circle lenses... They're really cute, but I'm not used to wearing contacts, so they feel weird.... But they're really cute. The ones I'm wearing are blue, but they look kinda aqua 'cause my eyes are green. I like it.

Moment of truth, I'm gonna go take the curlers out. Let's see if I did it right...

Hair curlers are weird...
But I like the final result! After lots of pomade and hairspray and taming the curls, it turned out great! A little messy, but good. It's hard to get all of my hair in to just 20 rollers... But it's doable. And only took about half and hour, as opposed to the 2 hours it usually takes for me to get my hair to look like this. I love my new rollers. <3
(Remington Ionic Protective Hot Rollers. Less than 20 bucks at Target!)
I guess that's it for today. There sure are a lot of pictures in this post.
Ciao~

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART TWO IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

Just so everyone knows, I will be spilling some "secrets" here. So if you haven't read the books (in which case, you deserve spoilers...) or are waiting for the movie, I suggest you stop reading... Now. Right here. Stop now. Why are you still reading??
Siiigh, it's your own fault if anything gets spoiled.
Now. The movie. Best. Fucking. Movie. Of. All. Time. I was absolutely blown away. I'm a huge Potter-nerd, but still. It was so. SO. Good. I fucking loved it. I never cry at movies, EVER, but the half the movie I was bawling. When Snape died, I started getting teary eyed. Which surprised me, because I always secretly wanted Snape to be evil. When he looked at Harry and said "You.. You have your mothers eyes." I LOST IT. It was so perfect.
Noooo!

That scene gave me a new appreciation for the character of Severus Snape. He's just a confused guy who lost the girl he loved, not only to another boy, but to a cruel cruel fate. I'm sorry I thought you were evil, I love you now. <3
From there, there wasn't a second where I wasn't crying. There was some laughter in the tears (like McGonagall saying "I've always wanted to use that spell!) and joining in some applause ("NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!" and Neville killing Nagini. EPIC scenes.) which is the best part about going at midnight. But the whole movie was so well put together I couldn't help but cry. There were some scenes, like when Harry was walking to his death, where it was all silent, and he was alone, that just showed the hopelessness of the situation so strongly that even though I knew what was happening, I was actually worried Voldemort was going to win. The whole movie was just so powerful, it was amazing. Oh, and who could forget Ron and Hermione's kiss?
It happens!! I just can't find a picture...

Oh my god, it was so good. Everything was perfect. But I couldn't accept my childhood ending, so I started reading the books again. Finished the first one in a day, no problem. I think I have it almost memorized now. x)
I'll miss you, Harry! You were my best friend growing up. I'll make sure you're loved in my house for generations to come. You all can bet my children will be raised on Tales of Beedle the Bard, mark my words.

As for the actual premier itself, it was wonderful! I was a sort of half-hearted Tonks, simply because of my pink hair.
Terrible picture, sorry...

My shirt says "Keep Calm. It's gonna be totally awesome." If anyone recognizes this, you're my favorite person ever. For those of you who don't know, it's A Very Potter Musical, brought to you by Starkid. For all you Gleeks who like Blane/Darren Criss and don't know Starkid, SHAME ON YOU. Look 'em up on YouTube. AVPM, AVPS, Me and My Dick, and Starship are the best musicals ever.
ANYWAY, my friends did my hair...
And I have no idea how she did the hair bow, sorry. ;;^^ I met a girl who was dressed like Teddy, she sat next to me. And she also goes to Aveda! And loves Doctor Who... and Miyazaki... I think I love her. So, sorry Sam, but another girl's gonna steal your girlfriend. It happens sometimes.
Sam and I played Harry Potter hangman while waiting for the movie to start. It was a good time. We went to Chipotle before, and still managed to be like, fifth in line. Due to a little... Sneaking around the crowd... We got the best seats. It. Was. Awesome.
Siiigh, I want to go see it again.
In conclusion, Harry Potter is awesome, and I think I found a new way to do my hair.

Curls make the bangs look a lot better.
Well, that's all for today.

Love, "Tonks"

Pink Hair and HARRYPOTTERTONIIIIGHT!!!

OHMYGODHARRYPOTTERCOMESOUTTONIGHT. Sam and I are going at midnight. I'm so exciteddd. <333
I seriously can't believe it's all coming to an end. I grew up with Harry! The first book came out when I was five... But I didn't start reading them 'till I was in... Second grade? And I've gone to every movie on the first day, and two (5 and 7.1) at midnight. AND, I've gone to the release of book 5,6, and 7 at midnight. In costume and all. I'm getting all sentimental... There won't be any more Harry Potter things to look forward to!! Except, of course, the giant, expensive box set of all the movies (with special features!) that I WILL be buying. Aaaah, I can't wait for this moviiie! It better be wonderful. And I know it will be, they always are. Except maybe Prisoner of Azkaban... But that's a rant for another time.
ANYWAY. I also have new pink hair. See?
It's pretty cute. I used Special Effects Cupcake Pink, a tiiiny bit of Manic Panic Electric Banana, Some Manic Panic Virgin Snow (about a 1/2 or 1/3 ratio to the Pink) and then diluted the crap out of it. 2 parts dye, 1 part conditioner. I'm happy with the results.
I'm still kinda iffy on the Bettie Bangs. I love them, then I hate them, then I'm okay with them... I'm not really sure how to feel about them. But I think I might just let them grow out, as opposed to trimming them all the time. I'm not so sure.
With my new pink hair, I may just say I'm Tonks at the premier. c: I know what I'm gonna wear.. I'll be sure to post a picture in my next post, which will, without a doubt, be about how amazing Harry Potter was.
OHMYGODI'MSOEXCITED

What I do for a Haircut...

Hello! Today, I got my haircut at the Aveda Institute, which I will be attending myself in the fall. It was wonderful, and so worth the ridiculous treck.
See... I don't have a car. I wrecked my van, Bessy, a long while back, and have been busing or bumming rides whenever I need to go somewhere. And today... I had to bus both ways. From my almost-suburb in South St. Paul to North-ish Minneapolis. Unless you live in the Twin Cities, you probably have no idea how ridiculously annoying that busride would be.
Let me tell you about it. My haircut appointment was at 4:30. I left the house at 2:10. It took me more than TWO. HOURS. To get there.
And, of course, me being a genious, I got off of my second my second bus waaaay too early. I don't know the downtown Minneapolis layout at all. Luckily, I found my stop, after walking quite a bit, and caught my last bus with no problem. Finally got to Aveda, right on time. The girl who cut my hair was also blonde and named Caitlin! We bonded.
Trying to explain what I wanted was a little tricky. She didn't really understand the U-bangs I wanted. Though when I said "Bettie Page," she understood more. Though I did have to fix them a little, I'm happy with the results.
Left looking like this...

Came home like this!

I gotta get used to them, but I like the bangs. Sam said he likes them. <3
After, I left at 6, to go catch my bus home. It was a relatively normal, long busride, I didn't get lost, nothing exciting.
BUT THEN.
On my last bus, this girl came and sat next to me. She put her head down, and was kind of shaking, but I didn't think anything of it. I was too into my music. After a while, I heard this weird splashing noise.
She threw up. On the bus. In the aisle.
It was absolutely disgusting. I'm pretty sure she was drunk. But, I didn't get any on me, so it's all good, I suppose. It was still something I never want to experience again.
I didn't get home until... a little after 8. I WAS GONE FOR SIX HOURS. FOR A HAIRCUT. That's dedication. Especially when I could have gone less than a mile away to my regular hairdresser. But, truth be told, I don't like her very much. Plus, I got a scalp and shoulder massage at Aveda. And now I smell like flowers. (For those who don't know, Aveda products are mostly organic, and use plant and flower essences. And they smell AMAZING.)
It... Was a good day. But a long one.
I'm dying my hair pink tomorrow!

End of June; Hectic, Hectic, Hectic!

Oh my goodness. I have been SO busy lately. My friend Sarah was in town from Florida for a few weeks, and there was NEVER a dull moment!
Let's see what I can remember...
Sarah had her orientation at the U campus... And after, we found the magical Hideaway, a headshop. Poor Dana couldn't come in, as she wasn't 18 yet. She waited patiently in a nearby coffee shop, ready to let us know if the JIG IS UP!
There were body mod adventures, as stated in my last post, and lots of hookah smoking down by the river. Melon Blue sheesha (Starbuzz) is so so so good. It smells like fruit snacks!
There were grad parties galore, and lots of Jumbo Mallows.

Why did I buy these...?

We FINALLY got Sarah to watch Star Wars. FINALLY. It took us a couple days to get through all of them, but we did it! And it was good. Dana got a tattoo on her 18th birthday, and I got an AMAZING dress at the Bettie Page store.

Let's see... We went to the Pride festival (and got buttons with out picture on them!), went to a Dubstep show, and ate more Taco Bell than any human should ever eat. Ever.
Sarah left on Wednesday, and now I haven't really had anything to do. I've been watching Dana's pets, because she's out of town, and I haven't been sleeping well... I blame the pets.
A few days ago, I did so much hair I can hardly fathom it. Three people. Three! I even got paid! I've got customers and I haven't even started school, that's how good I am.
Will's is definitely my favorite.

Sam and I FINALLY started watching Lord of the Rings (I've never seen them!) and I must say, juding by the first one, they're REALLY good.
Tomorrow is the fourth of July, and Sam and I are going out to Stillwater to watch fireworks on the river. Who's excited? Me, I am!

I've been playing too much Pokemon...

How to Dye Hair!

Hey guys! I just dyed my hair not to long ago, so I decided to make a little tutorial.
Please note, this is for BRIGHT hair. I did mine green!

Tools:
1. A plastic bag. Make sure it's big enough to cover your hair!
2. Tin foil. I don't actually use any in this, but it can be used for highlights, if you want them.
3. Hair clips. For separating. (Hair ties can be used too.)
4. Brushes. Mix colors and can be used for application.
5. Gloves. Protect your hands!

Dye

1. Developer. I use 40 volume, because I have naturally dark hair (and I know how to use bleach and not kill myself), but I suggest you use 30 volume, maybe even 20. Only use the strong stuff if you know what you're doing!
2. Lightener. Mixes with the developer to make bleach! I use white, but other colors can be used to.
3. Colors! Manic Panic brand here, but in all honesty, I don't like it very much. We've got some toner on the end, as well.
4. Plastic mixing bowls. These are actually just Tupperware... But you can use fancy ones, too.

Tip: Wear a T-shirt you don't care about!

You're PROBABLY going to get bleach and hair dye on your shirt. Wear one you don't care about this happening to!
Also, use a towel that can get dyed. This is mine:

Step 1: Mix the Bleach.
Mixing bleach is easy. Simply put scoops of lightener in a small non-metallic bowl. Your lightener should come with a scoop if in a barrel, but you can also buy pre-measured packets. A couple scoops should do, depending on how much hair your bleaching. Then, pour in the developer and mix! Keep in mind, if it's too thick or runny, just add more lightener or developer until it's creamy.

It should look something like this.

Step 2: Separate the hair and bleach!
If your bleaching your whole head, there's no need to pre-separate your hair. Just remember to go in sections. If you have a lot, you may want to section hair. If you're not, separate out the hair you don't want bleached.
Now, I'm only re-doing my roots. But, this goes for full bleaching as well. First, take a thin section...

And, using your application brush, or your GLOVED hands, apply bleach. Repeat over your whole head!
Clip off sections as you go, like so:

When your finished, you should look something like this:

And now, wait NO LONGER than 90 minutes, until your hair is the shade you want. Generally, you'll be able to see the progress very easily, and feel free to wash a small section with water to check the progress if needed. Usually, an hour (for longer, darker hair) will be enough. For shorter/lighter hair, half an hour is usually enough. Just play it by eye.
Tip: Your head WILL itch. Use something like a toothpick if you need to itch!

Step 4: Wash the Bleach.
Using a pH balanced shampoo, wash your hair. If you're not doing color, use conditioner. But, if you are dying your hair, I suggest you avoid it.

This stuff is magic. Ion Color Solutions shampoo and conditioner.
Don't dry your hair! Wet hair works just fine.

Step 5: Color!
Put your color in a non-metallic bowl (or, if your not mixing, and it's in a jar-like container, just... open it). Mix and colors as needed.

Seperate your hair as needed.

Have at it with colors! Use application brushes or your hands, whatever your comfortable with.
Note: While gloves are nice at this point, they're not needed. You'll just have colorful hands for a few days. (You can just wash the gloved you used to bleach, they're reusable!)

As you go, clip up colored sections.
Once done, put the bag on your head. It's silly, but DO IT. It'll help set the color.
Now, use a handy-dandy hair dryer and blow dry your pretty, bad covered head. Heat helps the color become VIBRANT! (You don't have to do this the entire time, just every once in a while as you wait.)
Leave the color in for 20-30 minutes, then wash out with water until it runs clean.

Step 6: Finish!
Yaaay, you're done! Now, if you don't like it, or want to add more color, simply repeat step 5. I didn't like this, so I added green.
Now, be careful with how you care for your hair. Use color-friendly shampoo's, avoid hot water, and only wash your hair every couple of days. Do NOT wash your hair for at least 48 hours after dying. Depending on the color, you will probably have to re-do your hair every couple of weeks.

That's all! Hope this helps!
