This is what I've been up to this last month.

GUESS WHAT GUYS.
I BREATHED MATHEW MURPHY'S AIR.

Isn't he beautiful??

Yeah. I went to The Wombats concert. Sam bought us tickets and I love him. It was the single most amazing night of my life. We were up front, and I got some nifty pictures (that are actually kinda shitty 'cause they're on my phone).
Why are you so perfect?

Yeah. It was awesome. I got a part of the set list (it got all torn up when he put it in the crowd, but I got some!) and it is now framed with my ticket. I swear, guys, I think I'm in love. I'm tellin' you, it's that curly hair, always gets me.
If you don't know the Wombats, check them out. Wombats!
I've sort of learned Let's Dance to Joy Division on bass. I say sort of, 'cause I'm not that great of a bass player... And I'm no where near as good as Tord. He is a bass playing GOD.

Anyway, I also cut my hair! Look!
Short, asymmetrical, and orange!
Yeah. It took four days. But, I got it done for free! Beauty school for the wiiin.
Day one, my instructor Lyndon came up to me and just said "Today's the day" very ominously. He got really sick of my roots... Anyway, they used me as a model to review color. My other instructor, Michelle, actually did the whole thing. They had to lighten my hair in attempts to get most of the pink out, and to match my new growth to the rest of my hair. That worked fine, the pink didn't come all the way out, but it was fine for our desired result. We used a demi-permanent color (I won't post my formula, because it's ridiculously confusing) because using permanent on my scalp would probably been a bad idea. Now, the orange color took to most of my hair... But some of my hair is so fried it didn't take at all. Oh my.
We decided to cut it and see what it looked like, but I had to go home for the day, as it was 4:30.
Day two, we tried to color it again, this time with permanent color. Again, it didn't take. Why? Oh, I'll tell you why. THERE'S NO CUTICLE ON SOME OF MY HAIR. It's so bad. T-T
Day three, IT ALL CAME OFF. We cut my hair. When strands of hair about a foot long started coming off, I sort of freaked out. But, it looks good, so I'm happy! Now it's been a couple weeks, and I'm learning how to style it, so I like it more. However, the color was still kinda iffy... But it almost looked like highlights.
Day four, Lyndon the magician found a jar of discontinued "stain" (which is basically semi-permanent color), and decided we should try that on my poor, poor hair. AND IT WORKED. Not only did it work, but it matched perfectly! He also made me a special conditioner, and now my hair looks wonderful.
Now I can look like Misty from Pokemon if I want.
See?

Now for more Aveda news. I've successfully finished Intro, and I'm an Intro II student now! (There are six phases at Aveda. Intro, Intro II, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Salon Life. I'll probably refer to these later.) Now I've learned make up applications, waxing, tinting, manicures, and pedicures. And sometime this week (probably tomorrow) I'll have my first real client!
FUCK. I'M SO SCARED.
I will for sure be doing manicures on Saturday, but I'm not that scared for that. Nails are easy.
I HAVE TO CUT HAIR. ON SOMEONE I DON'T KNOW, SO THEY CAN ACTUALLY GET MAD AT ME. FUUUUCK.
I just need to chill out...

Anyway, I'll stop rambling now, this is getting long. Hopefully I'll start posting more so these don't get so ridiculous.

Here's more Wombats for you (and me) to stare at in wonderment.

God I love them.

AVEDA And Pin-Up girl Photos

OH MY GOD AVEDA IS WORKING ME TO DEATH. In the most wonderful way possible. <3
I just finished my second week, and I FUCKING LOVE AVEDA OH MY GOD. I have never, ever, in my entire life, been so excited about school. I always look forward to what we'll be doing the next day. We've been cutting/styling our mannequin heads a bunch, and I've been learning so much about hair. It's fucking amazing. I don't even really notice how awkward it is that I'm in class with my ex-boyfriend all day. (Except for that time we had to practice massage/shampooing on each other. Aaawkwaaard.)
The only downside is I'm there from 9am to 4:30pm. And I ride the bus. So I have to wake up at 6am, and usually don't get home until sometime around 6-7pm. And then I talk to Sam so much I don't get enough sleep. And I'm definitely not complaining about that, 'cause I love talking to/skyping with him. I've also been going to his dorm a lot, which is cool. BUT THEN I GET NO SLEEP. FUUUU-.
I was there last night, after school, and I was so fucking tired. I got home around 11:30pm, put on my footie pajamas, Skyped with Dana, but got off right away because I was SO FUCKING TIRED. I don't have class today, so I'm sitting around trying to revive myself. And waiting for Sarah to text me back 'cause it's her birthday and I want to see her!
But yeah. I do my first real haircut next Saturday. On my older sister. Diiicks, I'm nervous.
I've also been learning some neat tricks about hair. Like this; if you want your hair to look super shiny, while your blow drying it, make sure to blow down the hair shaft. This causes the cuticle of the hairs to close more, and reflect more light, thus making hair look shiny and smooth.
Everyone is super friendly at Aveda, too. I love everyone in my class! This was definitely the best choice for me. c:
Anyway, I'll try and post more with interesting tidbits of Aveda stuff. Now here are some pictures of me lookin' like a Pin-Up girl.
This was one of my first attempts. After watching many YouTube videos, I sort of got the hang of it.

I didn't get any pictures of the dress I was wearing, but it was perfect! I'll add some later, I'm sure.

Okay, okay, I just love this dress. I want it.
I did a bad job on my hair...
Unfortunately, there are no good pictures of the hair this day. Which is sad, 'cause it looked good. But look at my dandelion!
One of my favorites. Fourth of July. People kept saying I looked like Marilyn Monroe. <3
I really like how I did the cat eye here.
Aaand that's how I looked on my first day at Aveda!

So yeah. I enjoy looking like a Pin-Up girl. And taking pictures of myself. I need to good camera/someone to take pictures of me...

Oh my goodness, I officially start school tomorrow.

You guys, I'm so excited. But I'm also ridiculously scared. I've been preparing for Aveda for a YEAR, and now I finally start!
I just bought a bunch of black clothes yesterday (hooray for simple uniforms, am I right?) including these absolutely adorable shoes.
Dana thinks I'm crazy for wanting to cut hair in these.
Okay, they may have been the tiniest bit impractical to buy. BUT I LOVE THEM YOU CAN'T MAKE ME BRING THEM BACK. They were only $25 dollars! (At Target, where I buy all of my stuff...) And, I can totally justify buying them. I had to buy dress pants, because they're the only kind of actual pants I'm allowed to wear (I'm gonna be wearing leggings every. Single. Day. I love leggings.) but, as I have a long torso and short legs, dress pants always, always, ALWAYS bunch up around my ankles, and just look bad. But with these heels, they stay straight, don't drag on the floor, and just look better.
One happy thing about those dress pants (besides justifying the shoes...) is they're a size 2! A 2!! Granted, I doubt I fit in to a 2 in anything BUT these pants (jeans are much tighter), but it was a HUGE confidence boost to realize the 4 (which is still smaller than my normal size) was too small, and the 2 fit just right. I normally don't put a whole lot of stock in to sizes (I'm perfectly happy with my body just the way it is, and, as a bonus, Sam is, too.) but man. Realizing I could fit in a size 2, and do it comfortably? I won't lie, it made me feel very, very, very good about myself.
(I would post more pictures of my new clothes, but they're nothing exciting. Just some black shirts, really.)
I also figured out what I want to do with my hair tomorrow. It's so cute, but, it takes me like, two hours. Yeah, I'll be falling asleep at like, 6 pm tonight. (Lol, yeah right.) Anyway, I got the basic idea for the style from Vintage Hairstyling (By Lauren Rennells), which is basically my hair bible. But, my hair was too short for the style in the book, so I tweaked it a bit.
Almost like a beehive. It's a lot bigger than this picture shows.
I'm so in to the pin-up girl look, it's ridiculous. I'll have to post some of my pictures sometime. (Fourth of July, oh man. I looked like a retro GODDESS.)
The only problem is, as stated before, it takes me so long to do... And I'm possibly taking the bus (which takes 2 hours), so I'll have to wake up at like... 4 am. Oh well. It's not like I'll be sleeping at all anyway.

Now if that wasn't enough ranting, I have even MORE personal stuff to talk about. Feel free to stop reading here if your not interested in my personal life.

I realize I mention Sam quite a bit in my posts, and I've never really said who he is. Well, if you couldn't figure it out from how much I gush about him, he's my boyfriend of about 6 months. (Actually, if I remember correctly, it'll be exactly 6 months tomorrow.) He's also pretty much the most amazing person I've ever met.
That's us at Prom this year (on the left). I was still a blonde then. cx
Anyway, our relationship story is kinda funny. Dana "set us up" on a friend-date (though we had never met...) for our semi-formal winter dance, because I didn't have anyone to go with, and she really wanted me to go. We hit it off amazingly, and about a month later, we started dating. It was pretty casual for a while, but started getting serious in the summer.
Last month, we went to the Japanese Lantern Lighting Festival at Como Zoo with Dana and her boyfriend, Nathan. Now, I'm gonna take a break to say I looked really good.
Thank you Michelle Phan for giving me awesome make up ideas!
Anyway, on our way back to my house, we started talking, about pretty serious things, too. There a little bit of that "Where is this relationship going?" conversation, and we both said we were pretty optimistic about it. I won't go in to too much detail, but the night ended with us saying "I love you" too each other for the first time. And let me tell you, it was awesome.
Much more recently (this past Saturday, to be precise), we had a much longer, more intense and serious relationship conversation. Again, I won't go in to too much detail, as I'm sure it's not terribly interesting for anyone reading this, I just like talking about it (and it takes my mine off of my nerves). We mostly talked about the future, including things like marriage and kids. Usually, this would freak me out, as I'm only 18, and never saw myself as being one to have such a serious relationship so young (Sam's values are much more traditional than my own, as he's Baptist, and I'm not religiously affiliated with anything, really), but strangely enough, it actually just makes me really happy and excited. Now, we're not talking about any of this happening now, but more of it being part of a potential future after I'm done with Aveda and he's done with college (or, at least, not in his freshman year).
Okay, I think that's enough for my little rant. I'm just ridiculously happy about all of this, and it gives me an excuse to do something other than my little biography assignment for Aveda.
I'M SO FUCKING NERVOUS.
Sigh, I better work on that. Okay guys, sorry if this is a little ridiculous and more personal than my other posts. I'll be posting a lot about my Aveda experiences (and some tips/guides here and there about hair and make up!) soon!

Sam's Birthday! And other various things.

Hey guys! I haven't been posting a lot lately, though I don't think the few of you who actually read this mind... ANYWAY, Sam's birthday was yesterday! He's finally 18! Yay!
To celebrate, we spent the whole day getting in to birthday shenanigans. He met Ezekiel, my Hookah, down by the river for some adult-initiation.
That's him! And some Starbuzz tobacco Melon Blue sheesha. It's tasty.

Of course, I baked him a birthday cake. It was cherry-chocolate marble cake, and absolutely amazing, if I do say so myself. The recipe I used can be found here, and the chocolate frosting can be found here. What can I say, I'm kind of a baking fanatic.
Isn't it pretty?

We went and saw Captain America, which was actually pretty good. I love me some super hero movies, don't get me wrong, but I was a little iffy on Captain America. However, I really did enjoy the movie. It didn't have as much... Substance? As I would have liked, but it was still well done. And the preview for the Avengers at the end? Yeah, I'm really excited. (Mostly just because I love Robert Downey Jr., but we'll ignore that.)
We also... Moved... Furniture... My dad was moving couches and made us help. It was a liiittle ridiculous (the couch gouged out a bunch of paint on its way upstairs) but it wasn't a huge deal. After all that, I made him dinner, just some pasta ('cause I'm actually not that great of a cook), but he liked it. According to him, it was the perfect birthday, so I feel accomplished.
I also looked pretty cute.
Tunic/Dress with a waist belt, and my new favorite red shoes!

We went swing dancing this week, too, and that was loads of fun. Though we didn't actually dance that much... We ended up spending a couple hours at a Perkins. It was basically just an excuse for us to meet Dana's new boyfriend, and for me to see Dana before she left for Florida. I can't wait until she gets back!
I wore my Bettie Page dress, and, of course, my new red shoes.
Dress; "Gabrielle", Bettie Page, $136. Shoes; Target, $12.

It was a good time. Now, I will be anxiously awaiting Dana's return to Minnesota, and spending lots of time with Sam. Or at home, playing Pokemon and stuff like that.

GUYS I FEEL BETTER ABOUT MY BANGS.

Just so you know. I learned they need to be given more volume. The lovely people of Gaia Online's Real Life Fashion & Style forum showed me how to do it.
I'm apparently just a liiitle stupid, but now I feel like I can enjoy them much more. Just give 'em a little boost by "curling" them with my flat iron, and I like them a million times more. You can't really see the difference in the picture, but I can tell. I feel so much better about them now.
In other news, I finished Sam's birthday card.

His birthday's not until next Sunday... But I'm excited.

My legs hurt.

Hello!
I've started working out (finally), because I have the house to myself for most of the day, and there's a tredmil no one uses... So... It's now mine. But don't tell anyone. (I can't excersize in front of people...)
The other day I went to yoga with Dana, and it was wonderful! I felt very refreshed and relaxed. The fact I was about three blocks from my ex-boyfriend's house didn't really help, though...
Anyway, I've been running mostly, and doing some crunches/sit-ups here and there to try and burn some extra fat, especially around my thighs and mid-section. If anyone knows good work outs, I'd love to hear about them!
But now, my legs hurt like CRAZY. I hung out with Sam today, we watched Goblet of Fire and I FINALLY saw Fight Club (which is AMAZING), and every time I got up and had to walk, I was kinda wobbling and whimpering in pain. It was pretty bad. But, Sam said I looked sexy, so it's so worth it. Sooo woooorth iiiiit.

Argh, I have to figure out what to do for Sam's birthday. He turns 18 next Sunday! I've got a little more than a week to figure out what we're gonna do... I have some general ideas. I'm gonna bake him a big chocolate/cherry cake, and we're gonna go smoke my hookah down by the river, and I'll possibly bring a picnic for us at that point. And then, I think I'll make him dinner later... But I have no idea what to do in between all of this! And I want to draw him something ('cause I'm broke as FUCK, and I'm really bad at buying presents anyway) but I have no idea WHAT. Maybe I'll just make him a big crazy card... I'll figure it out.
Bleh, I'm just freaking out a little bit. He made my 18th birthday so awesome, I want to do the same for him! It's painful. I think I just need to figure out what kind of food to make... And I really don't want to have to cook meat. I mean, I will if I HAVE to, but I feel that would be wrong as a vegetarian...
Uff. I'll figure it out.
Here's a picture of Snape to reward you for reading my rant.

Playing with hair, contacts, all-around just bored.

Yeah. I've been pretty bored lately. Sam's been out of town and I'm kinda bummed. :/ Oh well. I've been playing around with my hair more!

I definitely like it better curly. I just got some hot rollers, so I don't have to spend quite as much time on my curls. I've got them in for a test run right now, crossing my fingers that it turns out good!
The other day, I was at my friend Alyssa's house, and she's big into the whole Himegyaru thing. Big contacts and wigs and stuff. So I played with her stuff.
Maybe I'll do this to my hair next....

Look at how big my eyes are!

I'm debating if I want to buy some circle lenses... They're really cute, but I'm not used to wearing contacts, so they feel weird.... But they're really cute. The ones I'm wearing are blue, but they look kinda aqua 'cause my eyes are green. I like it.

Moment of truth, I'm gonna go take the curlers out. Let's see if I did it right...

Hair curlers are weird...
But I like the final result! After lots of pomade and hairspray and taming the curls, it turned out great! A little messy, but good. It's hard to get all of my hair in to just 20 rollers... But it's doable. And only took about half and hour, as opposed to the 2 hours it usually takes for me to get my hair to look like this. I love my new rollers. <3
(Remington Ionic Protective Hot Rollers. Less than 20 bucks at Target!)
I guess that's it for today. There sure are a lot of pictures in this post.
Ciao~
